What do you think?
1) What type of landforms are around you?
2) Which landform do you think is the coolest and why?
3) Have you ever made anything from home-made play dough?
We learned about different landforms by doing research from books and the internet. After we wrote what we learned we made our landforms out of home-made play dough. Some parents made the play dough for us. We typed our reports on the laptops. Then we painted our landforms. What do you think? 1) What type of landforms are around you? 2) Which landform do you think is the coolest and why? 3) Have you ever made anything from home-made play dough?

Today we met Mr. Mike, a zookeeper from the Cincinnati Zoo. He brought animals to our classroom, one was an alligator and one was a bird. He had cards with animals that we played a little game. We sorted the animals into groups. We learned that there are many different types of classes of animals. He taught us about animals that we did not know about. He taught us that alligators have an clear eye lid that they use underwater. The bird was from the African savanah, and the alligator was from the U.S.A. We loved having the visitor from the zoo and the animals. What do you think? 1) What is your favorite animal? 2) What is your favorite group of animals? Before winter break each student received a brand new book to read. S/he then made a folder game that went along with the story. Each student designed a game that showed the events from the book. After completing the books and games the students enjoyed playing their games. However, the best part of this activity was donating all of the books and games to ICYO - Inner City Youth Opportunities, so that children who are less fortunate have the opportunity to read the books and play the games. Before break we brought in things from home to make our own instruments. We brought in cans, bottles, boxes, rubber bands, balloons and just about anything we could find. When discovered that you can make an instrument out of almost anything. We learned that sounds can be described as having a high or low pitch or be loud or soft. We also enjoyed playing our instruments.
What do you think? 1) What other things could be used to make instruments? 2) How do different instruments make their sounds? 3) What's your favorite instrument? |
