What do you think?
1) Have you ever made a map?
2) When have you ever used a map?
3) If you were lost, how could a map help you?
4) Where have you seen a map?
This is a map of Vermont School playground. We have been learning about maps. We learned that you have to add a key to the map to understand what the symbols mean. All maps need keys and symbols. On this map there are symbols for the blacktop, the mulch, the play structure, the pergola, the swings, the basketball hoop and the balance beam. We learned that if you face your shadow at 12 o'clock noon you are facing north. Then you will know that south is behind you. East is to the right, and west is to the left. A map should also have a compass rose. A map can help show you where to go. Now that we know about maps we are making maps of our classroom.
